However, the 28-year-old actor feels that the role of Edward Cullen in the hit vampire franchise that made him an international superstar came as a complete surprise, reported Variety. That was also where he met his ex Kristen Stewart.

"No one thought it was going to be a big deal. We thought it was going to be like Thirteen. I couldn't do another Twilight movie. I'm too old," Pattinson said.

The Rover star is due to appear in Brady Corbet's directorial debut, The Childhood of a Leader and is in talks for a movie directed by Harmony Korine.

He also made an appearance at Cannes film festival with David Cronenberg's Map To the Stars, where his character has sex with an older actress (played by Julianne Moore, 53) in the back seat of a car.

In 2012, Pattinson was in Cannes with another Cronenberg film, Cosmopolis. In that film his character had sex with Juliette Binoche, 50, in the back of a limousine. When asked by media who made for a better passenger, Pattinson laughed before saying, "They are both like sevens."
