Losing 4G/LTE signal after a while - but not when back cover is open

Hi guys

I'm facing a strange issue:
I repaired my broken screen by some shop in Bangkok. I also OTA upgraded to the latest security patch level (april -> may) around the same time.

When coming back home (first time 4G, over there I was just using WiFi), I noticed that after some time in a 4G network, the connection dies (the signal icon shows an exclamation mark) and I'm offline. I can fix it by downgrading to 3G in the settings (but I'm then stuck at 3G; upgrading to 4G does not register to 4G again..). 3G works fine, I never lose connection.

My first assumption was that it's a software issue, i.e. due to the latest security patch. So I wiped my device and installed the factory image with the patch level from April. Unfortunately, the device still loses the 4G connection after some time. So I guess it is hardware related (something broke while repairing the screen).

I noticed that when the 4G connection dies, I can fix it by opening the back cover (the exclamation mark disappears and I'm online again). Also, when I keep the back cover opened, I never lose the 4G connection.

Could this be somehow antenna related? The white and the black antenna cable seem to be properly connected.
I read somewhere some signal issues are fixed by "pressing the back case" - are there maybe some contacts that are not connected properly..?

Thanks!!
